Focus, Focus

I focus better when it involves food. :)
I noticed my dwindling interest in reading and find it hard to focus and motivate myself.  I only got a couple topics left but here I am needing a truckload of motivation.  This means I am in real deep trouble.

I admit,  I like to do many things all at the same time.  The variety fuels me and keeps me from getting bored.  Law school however is like a jealous and demanding lover.  It wants my undivided attention, unwavering commitment, dedication, and my loyalty.  If you are a restless soul like me,  being in law school is akin to being tied down in chains for the equivalent of four or five years.  It is like being married to someone not your soul-partner, or something like that, maybe.

These days,  I am addicted to everything fitness: cardio, strength-training, weight loss, fat-burning, the whole works.  I am so consumed with it that I become voracious for learning new things, new exercises,  weightlifting stuff and all of these take a huge chunk of my time.

Focus will lead to positive results and I am losing weight slowly but surely.  I am seeing amazing changes in my physique that I never imagined possible, I mean not even in my wildest dreams.

When you see results  in a matter of weeks,  it is addicting and pushes you to do more of it because you know that your efforts are effective.   I am not saying that law school will not lead me somewhere but it just takes a little more time for me to get there. There's the graduation,  the review, the bar exams itself and then the waiting.

On days that I miss my jogs, walks or gym workout I become restless.  I wish I could say the same when I miss my readings.  Actually I made a reading plan to serve as my guide so that I can review systematically.  Unfortunately,   right now that plan remained a plan,  the execution is just not happening.

Despite this, I am fully aware of the consequences if I don't straighten up.  I know that I'll be 'forced' to seriously do skydiving this year (I wish!) and work also on my digital marketing endeavors.

The thing is,  I have this obsession that if I do something then I have to excel in it.  For me, the worst thing one can do is to waste time and effort on something and end up with a mediocre product.

Focus. Focus on reading. Focus on everything law.  God help me.

I'm Back in School, Oh Yeah!

'Hangin out' at my favorite coffee nook

Yes, I am back and hopefully with a vengeance.  It was not easy to enroll again,  to be honest.  Work-with-lots a stress has definitely fried my brains to perfection coupled with the fact that my bosses' are not too keen on me going back to school again but I persisted.

Going back to school is not a breeze this time.  I had to apply for readmission and since doing so takes a lot of paperwork and clearances done, I almost gave up.  A good Colonel friend of mine (whom I already thanked personally) gave me the final shove to just deal with it.  In my other school, senior students often have an immunity of sorts but in my new school, there is no such privilege.

I remember during interview when the Dean in my new school asked why I transferred and didn't believe my reason at first I suppose.  My justification was quite shallow I might say.  Then she looked at my grades and that's only when she believed me.

I have no regrets leaving my previous school as it was a personal decision and it felt so liberating to just do things on your own without some people checking your progress as if you are in grade school.

Anyways,  I have a few review subjects left but honestly I am quite struggling to be on top of the game again due to my multi-work duties.  Lack of sleep is my foremost enemy.  And no surprise,  half of the week I only get to sleep 2-3 hours.

I have to finish this time, by hook or by crook because after law school I am going to work towards my USPA A license in Dubai and that would take a month or more. More about this special license that I'm truly dying to have in my next posts.

Who's the real Boss?

Let's just say I have a lot of bosses.

In my own happy world I myself is my own boss. Of course I wanna be a boss one day. In my house I'd like to think I am the queen, but that is until my 2 little bosses arrive from school, then I become the driver, chef, carpenter, etc.

In relationships, no one has to be the boss because the two people in it must be co-equals. Otherwise, if the other person wants to play boss, then he better pay me a regular salary and I'll play the role of the submissive employee.

When you are in law school, the only person who's boss inside the class room is your professor. I have a mix of classmates who are the Big Bosses in their offices or organizations. I used to have classmates who are high-ranking police officials, president of their companies, and high-ranking priests.

But all these titles disappear in thin air when the real Boss arrives with class cards in tow. Now all that matters is whether or not we had thoroughly studied the reading for the session, otherwise, heads start rolling.

That's life in law school.

Bar Exams 2013 Outline Now Available Online

For the law graduates who intend to take the bar exams this year 2013, the outline for the coverage of the exam in each respective bar subject is now available online. Look them over and make sure to leave no stone unturned. I hope it is not too late. A professor once told in one class that the preparation for the bar exams starts on the first day you step into law school. It is impossible to learn everything in the 6 months that you are going to spend for the review before the bar.

The 2012 bar exams was one of the toughest this is manifested by the low passing rate  of 17% . This translates to only 949 people passed out of the 5,686 who took the 4-week grueling tests last October 2012. Good luck to all the bar hopefuls.
